Law 5 – an Act respecting health and social services information and amending various legislative provisions – received royal assent on April 4, 2023. Previously known as bill 3, it was introduced by the Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital Technology Éric Caire, following bill 19 which failed to pass due to the suspension of the last parliamentary session before the 2021 provincial elections. The effective date of Law 5 will be determined by government decree.
Law 5 applies to all health and social services information held by the public sector and specific private sector organizations.
