Gowling WLG advises Samson Cree Nation on impact benefit agreement for the Vista Coal mine expansion

On September 10, 2025, Samson Cree Nation and Coalspur Mines (Operations) Ltd. entered into an Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) for Coalspur’s Vista Coal Project, located near Hinton, Alberta, Canada. The IBA sets out a framework for ongoing collaboration, focused on environmental monitoring and stewardship, community investment, and enhanced employment and contracting opportunities for Samson Cree.
Gowling WLG advised Samson Cree Nation in connection with the successful negotiation of this IBA with a team led by Kennedy A. Bear Robe and including Natalia Mioduszewski.
