Edith Penty Geraets, a patent agent in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office, has received both the J. Edward Maybee Prize and Marie F. Morency Memorial Prize from the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada.

The former prize distinguishes the highest overall mark on the Canadian patent agent exams in a given year and the latter is awarded to the individual with the highest mark on "Paper A" (Patent Drafting), a key component of the same exams.

"These awards are a strong testament to Gowling WLG's deep commitment to its people," said Edith. "It's through the unwavering support of my mentors, colleagues, friends, and family that I'm able to celebrate this meaningful professional milestone with those who mean the most to me. I am truly thankful and appreciative."

With professional experience spanning Canada, the UK and continental Europe, Edith focuses her patents practice in the life sciences sector, where she works closely with pioneering companies operating in and around the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. She brings a sophisticated scientific background to her work with these clients, including a master of science degree in chemistry.
