Gowling WLG to co-author 2019 edition of the Canadian Tax Foundation's leading resource for tax practitioners
Gowling WLG has been selected to co-author the upcoming fifth edition of The Taxation of Private Corporations and Their Shareholders, widely regarded as one the premier resources for Canadian tax practitioners.
Published by the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF), the new edition will offer a comprehensive look at the taxation of private corporations, a hot topic in light of recent and significant amendments to the Income Tax Act. As the legal co-authors, Gowling WLG's tax professionals will contribute 10 chapters to the book. Members of BDO's tax practice will also provide 10 chapters as the accounting co-authors.
"We are excited to have been selected by the CTF to co-author the next edition of this prominent publication," said John Sorensen, leader of Gowling WLG Canada's national Tax Group. "Being tapped as the legal thought-leaders for this resource is a great recognition of the talent and depth of our tax practice."
"This is a remarkable and useful book," notes Gowling WLG tax lawyer David Stevens. "It has provided a well-structured and insightful description of private company taxation since 1983. Many experienced practitioners have contributed to its development over the years. Our Tax Group is honoured to have been asked to contribute and, in partnership with BDO, we hope the fifth edition lives up to the expectations of tax practitioners in this ever-demanding area of law."
The Taxation of Private Corporations and Their Shareholders was last updated in 2010 and is scheduled for release in 2019, with new chapters to be published online as they are completed. The publication will be available both in print and as part of TaxFind, the CTF's online collection.
