Asim Iqbal bolsters Gowling WLG’s Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency Group in Toronto
Gowling WLG is delighted to announce the addition of Asim Iqbal as a partner in our Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency and Advisory Group. Based in the Toronto office, Asim brings a wealth of experience in restructuring and insolvency law, further enhancing our ability to serve clients with complex financial challenges.
Called to the Ontario Bar in 2012, Asim has dedicated his career to advising distressed corporations on both formal and informal restructuring and special situations, particularly in cross-border contexts. His practice spans all aspects of insolvency law and corporate restructuring, offering invaluable counsel to a diverse range of stakeholders, including secured and unsecured creditors, private debt funds, distressed hedge funds, bondholders, major shareholders, distressed purchasers and boards of directors of distressed companies.
Asim's impressive credentials include being named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2023 and a Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer in 2024. He has also been consistently recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory from 2022 to 2024. Additionally, as a co-founder of a Canadian technology company specializing in legal industry software, Asim brings a unique perspective on the challenges faced by business owners and entrepreneurs.
