John Sorensen appointed to the Tax Court of Canada
John Sorensen, a partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto office and National Leader of the firm’s Tax Dispute Resolution Group, has been appointed a judge of the Tax Court of Canada. His appointment takes effect immediately.
Justice Sorensen’s career has been defined by a deep commitment to solving complex tax challenges and advancing the practice of tax law. Known for his strategic leadership, he has guided clients through every stage of tax dispute resolution while earning recognition in leading legal directories such as the International Tax Review, Chambers Canada and Best Lawyers in Canada. Beyond his practice, he has contributed to shaping the field as a Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation, an author and editor of various tax publications and a faculty member in Osgoode Hall’s LL.M. tax program.
