Clark Sargent
- Qualified, Solicitor of England & Wales (1992)
Clark is a litigation lawyer by trade, but also a contracts lawyer. He has been with the firm for over 25 years, and was a partner in the firm's dispute resolution group for 18 of those years, between 2000 and 2018.
As a partner, Clark's practice encompassed all types of contract and tort disputes, including on contract terminations/ re-negotiation, share sale warranty/ indemnity claims, satisfactory quality/defective goods claims, professional negligence claims, misrepresentation claims, and conversion claims. He has dealt with claims arising from complex multi-party, multi-contract relationships (including from the UK's new aircraft carriers to the Olympic Stadium), and he has worked to solve those disputes through any and all of negotiation, mediation, litigation and arbitration.
Clark is now Of Counsel, still based between our Birmingham and London offices in the UK. He looks at special projects for our dispute resolution teams: including that he helped introduce and now supervises, with Jen Ward, our Gowling WLG E-discovery Managed Service; he works on other business change/ digitisation initiatives for our litigation teams; and he has a role in delivering legal training both internally and to our clients on a range of contract and litigation procedure issues. He still advises clients on an occasional basis.
