Daniel Cole is the Office Managing Partner of Gowling WLG’s Toronto office and a trusted adviser to companies looking to launch, review and defend advertising and marketing initiatives across traditional and digital channels.
Formerly the firm’s leader of the Advertising Practice Group, Daniel advises clients on contest design and review, automotive advertising, packaging and labelling, and advertising copy review. He also provides guidance on consumer protection requirements and the legal considerations involved in developing and operating e-commerce platforms.
A significant part of Daniel’s practice focuses on social media and digital marketing matters, including the design of targeted social media campaigns, drafting social media policies, and managing public relations and reputational issues. Drawing on extensive experience in this space, he helps clients navigate a complex and rapidly evolving landscape—working closely with legal and executive teams to manage risk and streamline advertising and marketing processes.
Daniel is a frequent speaker and author on social media and advertising law, including for the Association of Corporate Counsel, Lexpert, IT-CAN and the Brand Activation Association, and previously served as adjunct faculty at Osgoode Hall Law School.
