What the team does

With four partners and over 20 dedicated employment law specialists based across our Birmingham and London offices, our award-winning Employment, Labour and Equalities team is one of the most well-respected in the UK.

As a full-service firm, we deliver the complete suite of employment law services to a legally astute international client base. Our lawyers could be advising a multi-national on a UK start-up one day, leading a piece of ground-breaking litigation in the employment appeal Courts the next, and advising on the employment aspects of the transfer of a business the day after.

Other areas of our work include:

• dealing with springboard injunctions in the high court to protect clients' confidential information
• helping employers navigate a potential trade union dispute
• supporting colleagues in the corporate, commercial and real estate teams to get multi-million pound transactions over the line, including technical advice on TUPE and insolvency matters
• carrying out high profile and sensitive investigations
• advising on structural matters including reorganisations, pay and grading issues and changes to terms and conditions

Our team gets involved in a diverse array of sectors including manufacturing, life sciences, energy, financial services and tech. We also have an impressive heritage in public sector work and regularly advise on high-profile litigation and complex projects for local and central government and the NHS.

Our lawyers are at the forefront of legal developments, contributing to government consultations and select committees, participating in the Employment Lawyers Association, and chairing employment law conferences.

We believe pro bono work is important too, and you'll be given a number of opportunities to take part, including providing advice to charities and supporting legal advice helplines.

For those starting out in their careers or those who are already well established, the team provides a fantastic learning environment. With two dedicated support lawyers providing support to keep you abreast of case law, legislative changes and emerging employment law issues, we also provide weekly employment law update training and team training days. Put simply, we'll give you the tools you need to be an expert in your field. Your work will be challenging and engaging but, crucially, always within a supportive and collaborative environment.

But as they say, it's not all work, work, work. And as an employment team we're well placed to understand the importance of work-life balance. Throughout the year we arrange a variety of social events from summer barbecues and cocktail making, to cheese tastings and impromptu drinks after work.
