What the team does

We are a close-knit team of experienced lawyers who advise on a broad range of commercial and regulatory issues that arise in the energy sector.

The quality of the work we advise on cannot be underestimated. For example, we continue to advise BEIS on the development of the Smart Energy Code, the major and unique multi-party Code that underpins BEIS's landmark £11 billion smart metering programme.

We undertake a wide variety of work for a broad range of clients which include market leading offtakers, major utilities, energy traders, suppliers, network owners and operators, developers and managers of industry codes.

On the variety of work we deal with, we interact closely with energy experts in many other areas of the firm including corporate, real estate, construction, planning and dispute resolution.

Our team has a non-hierarchical structure, which offers the opportunity to gain significant exposure to cutting edge work in the energy sector, of the type rarely seen outside of London.

The team is friendly and supportive and everyone is encouraged to get stuck in and develop their knowledge of the complex legislation within the energy sector.

Given the specialist nature of the work, the most effective training is learning on the job. More formal training is provided through the team members attending industry-wide training events to develop their energy industry knowledge. The team also keeps their commercial contracts knowledge up to date by attending the commercial team's monthly training session.
