Blackhawk Network acquires Achievers Corp. in US$110 million transaction

On June 30, 2015, Blackhawk Network Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAWK) announced that it had completed its previously announced acquisition of Achievers Corp., for a purchase price of US$110 million.

Blackhawk is a leading prepaid and payments global company, which supports the program management and distribution of gift cards, prepaid telecom products and financial service products in a number of different retail, digital and incentive channels.

Achievers delivers an Employee Success Platform™ that enables social recognition, which increases employee engagement and drives business success.

The firm was Canadian counsel to Blackhawk in this acquisition with a team that was led by Stephen McKersie and that included Faran Umar-Khitab and Susan Johnston (corporate/M&A); Hugh Christie and Michael Comartin (employment); and Paul Carenza and Laura Monteith (tax).
