A cross section of experts from international law firm Gowling WLG has advised the shareholders of successful UK tech company, Rant & Rave, on its sale to US cloud software management firm Upland Software.

Rant & Rave's voice of customer (VoC) and voice of employee (VoE) applications enable users to capture, analyse, and act on real-time customer and employee feedback across multiple channels. Its applications are used by more than 100 leading European and international brands to proactively communicate with and gather fast feedback from their customers.

The deal is part of Upland Software's strategy to enhance its existing commitment to developing customer engagement solutions.

The Gowling WLG team was led by Davey Brennan and included Sue Johnston, Stephen Bowman, Samantha Holland, Nicola Caton and Tom Rank.

Commenting on Gowling WLG's role in the sale to Upland Software, Kenny Bain (CEO) of Rant & Rave, said: "Gowling WLG has been a fantastic legal advisory partner. The firm's corporate expertise proved invaluable in delivering this transaction for the company's shareholders within very challenging timescales. The effort and commitment put in by the team led by Davey Brennan went above and beyond the call of duty - all done with a smile and good sense of humour."

Davey Brennan, corporate partner and Co-Chair of Tech at Gowling WLG, added: "With a 300-strong global tech group, cross-border tech deals are very much what we do. However, an incredibly challenging timetable meant that everyone had to pull together to get this deal over the line, a task that was helped tremendously by Rant & Rave's talented management team.

"We wish the enlarged group all the very best as they work to close the gap in efficiencies around customer feedback."

Rant & Rave's VoC and VoE solutions will be new offerings on the Upland Mobile Messaging (UMM) platform, the leading mobile engagement platform in the United States for managing, executing, and analysing personalised mobile messaging campaigns at scale.

The UMM platform, with powerful functionality in SMS, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), Rich Communication Services (RCS), mobile wallet, and text-to-call, has powered over one million mobile messaging campaigns for more than 350 enterprise customers in healthcare, government, non-profit and advocacy, consumer brands, media & entertainment, business services, restaurants, and retail.
