Lending and secured finance law in Canada: 2023 review

The following chapter from the ninth edition of The Lending and Secured Finance Law Review has been republished with permission.

The ninth edition of The Lending and Secured Finance Review includes contributions from leading practitioners across 15 different countries. Each chapter covers developments in the corporate lending and secured finance markets, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing market participants, in each respective jurisdiction.

Gowling WLG partners Christopher Alam and Kelby Carter, and associate Katie Ross, are the contributing authors for the Canadian chapter of the 2023 Lending & Secured Finance Review.

As economic challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic ease, inflation continues, and in response, central banks around the world (including the Bank of Canada), continue to implement raised interest rates. Canada's financial system is well-equipped to cope with this global economic situation and the relevant legal structures and requirements remain positive for transactions and investment.
