Dan Polonenko, a principal and patent agent in Gowlings' Calgary office, has once again earned a listing in IAM Strategy 300 — The World’s Leading IP Strategists. The guide recognizes the top 300 professionals globally who have demonstrated an exceptional ability to develop and implement strategies that maximize the value of intellectual property portfolios.
Polonenko’s practice is focused on patent drafting, prosecution and intellectual asset management in the life sciences industry. He works closely with a wide range of clients — including universities, technology incubators and high-tech companies — to help them get the most out of their IP assets.
With over two decades of senior management and corporate-level experience in the biotechnology field, Polonenko is a co-inventor of six issued patent families. He holds a PhD in plant physiology and microbiology from the University of Waterloo, and completed his post-doctoral training in biochemistry at McGill University.
Originally based in Vancouver, Polonenko recently moved to Gowlings' Calgary office to better serve the firm’s growing client base throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
