Gowlings named leader in innovation at Enterprise World conference

13 November 2015

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Gowlings was recognized by OpenText at its annual Enterprise World conference in Las Vegas, where organizations were honoured for delivering innovative solutions that enable the digital world. Gowlings won the OpenText Elite Award for Most Innovative Project in the Legal Sector.

This award recognizes Gowlings’ contribution to a digitization initiative that was implemented in conjunction with one of its largest clients. The initiative eliminated traditional paper-based processes and introduced a completely new methodology for the receipt, review and transmission of digital information across Canada.

Gowlings uses OpenText software, electronic data exchange and online file review to transform the way its legal professionals access and share large amounts of information. Every document is efficiently tagged, easily found and properly secured as it moves through sophisticated workflow for legal review, before being transmitted to the client over a private communication channel.

“Winning this award has been an incredible team effort,” said Jason Mervyn, director of technology business solutions at Gowlings. “I am proud to work at a law firm that places such value in innovation, and continues to strive for new solutions and new efficiencies to better serve its clients.”

In 2016, Gowlings will be joining forces with Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co to create a new international legal practice called Gowling WLG. With more than 1,500 legal professionals in 18 cities across Canada, the U.K., Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Gowling WLG will continue to provide clients with world-class legal expertise and outstanding multi-jurisdictional support.

Gowling WLG will be an international legal practice providing services to clients around the world through various separate legal entities. Learn more about the Gowling WLG structure at gowlings.com/GowlingWLG.
