Gowling WLG achieves top 10 position in The Lawyer's Global Real Estate 50 report

22 June 2018

Gowling WLG's award-winning real estate team has been listed in The Lawyer's Global Real Estate 50 rankings for the second year running.

The report is produced to reveal in-depth data on deals, clients and real estate teams. The report specifically focuses on property tech and gets inside the top real estate practices in the world; presenting the trends they believe are of the greatest importance now and those that will become so in the coming years.

Gowling WLG's rankings see its real estate team as:

  • The sixth largest in the UK
  • The 13th largest globally
  • Within the top 20 in the Middle-East

One of the core focuses of Gowling WLG's real estate team is on housebuilders. Acting for eight of the ten largest in the UK, its real estate team was involved in one of the UK's biggest deals, including the £470m acquisition of a 2.3 million sq. ft. residential development site at Nine Elm Square.

In the report, The Lawyer addressed Gowling WLG's use of artificial intelligence platforms to offer an extended real estate proposition, entering deals earlier than ever and redefining the length of the 'cradle to grave' cliché, thus showing the firm's innovative approach to embracing new technology.

Richard Bate commented: "We are pushing the technology envelope. We're using the technology available to us at a much earlier point and at a smaller cost than we have ever done. The ranking and report shows the strength and depth of our team across the world, supporting the fact we adapt to current times to benefit both us and our clients".

The Lawyer's Global Real Estate 50 ranking continues the recent successes for Gowling WLG's real estate group, after it won Real Estate Team of the Year at The Legal Business Awards 2017, as well as being ranked as a top tier practice in both Legal 500 Midlands and Chambers UK Midlands.
