Gowling WLG is pleased to congratulate Ben Westelman, Director & Head of Legal of eBay Classifieds Group Canada/Kijiji, who last night received the Law Department Leadership Award at the 2019 Canadian Lawyer InHouse Innovatio Awards.
Now in its sixth year, the Innovatio Awards recognize and celebrate Canadian in-house counsel who have demonstrated leadership by becoming more efficient, innovative and creative in meeting the needs of their organizations.
In his role, Westelman skillfully leverages technology and innovation to ensure that sophisticated legal advice permeates every aspect of his company's business - setting a bold new precedent for law departments everywhere. Most recently, Westelman and his team established a self-service commercial contracts tool, enabling various departments to quickly generate a range of legal documents with minimal or no legal review - significantly driving efficiency across the overall business.
Henry Harris, Gowling WLG partner and the firm's client team leader for eBay, attended the ceremony and presented the award to Westelman.
