Gowling WLG achieves shortlisting success in The Lawyer Awards 2019

Gowling WLG has been shortlisted for two categories at this year's The Lawyer Awards 2019: Real Estate Team of the Year and Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion.

Hosted by The Lawyer, the awards celebrate legal excellence across Europe in private practice, in-house and the Bar. More than 60 judges drawn from a cross-section of the legal sector were involved in this year's judging process to identify finalists in 30 categories.

Gowling WLG's shortlisting in the Real Estate Team of the Year category recognises its role in what is believed to be one of the largest ever UK real estate deals; the £1.46 billion acquisition of Network Rail's commercial real estate portfolio. The firm partnered with Kirkland & Ellis to advise investment firm Blackstone and commercial property management company Telereal Trillium on the deal, which involved a portfolio of 5,200 properties across England and Wales including hotels, offices and restaurants.

In the Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) category, it is the firm's 'Inclusion 2020' strategy placed in the spotlight. Here, Gowling WLG's focus is to build on existing D&I infrastructure by embedding and hardwiring inclusion into working policies, processes and practices. This is backed-up by a commitment to continuously strive to create an inclusive workplace that recognises and supports individuality.

Winners of The Lawyer Awards are to be announced on 25 June at a ceremony at Grosvenor House, London.

Gowling WLG is an international law firm which brings together the strength of 1,500 legal professionals across 18 cities worldwide.
