Gowling WLG has been recognized by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce for the firm's contributions to the local business community.

In a virtual awards gala on June 9, the Chamber announced this year's recipients of the annual Outstanding Business Achievement Awards, honouring businesses who make a positive impact on the vibrancy and prosperity of the city. Gowling WLG won in the Large Business category.

"On behalf of our team in Hamilton, we are so grateful for this award," said Louis Frapporti, managing partner, Gowling WLG Hamilton. "This recognition was earned through the efforts of all of our people in Hamilton. Our role as an accelerator of Hamilton's economic renaissance is one that we take pride in, and we look forward to continuing those efforts."

The awards celebrate small, medium and large businesses, as well as young entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations in Hamilton. Nominees are judged on criteria including entrepreneurship, employee relations, alignment of mission statement, product innovation and promotion of Hamilton outside the city.

"Congratulations to Gowling WLG on their Outstanding Business Achievement Award in the Large Business category. The Chamber applauds the international firm for its dedication to supporting local efforts related to community building, innovation and economic development," said Keanin Loomis, president & CEO, Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

This recognition comes as the firm celebrates 25 years in Hamilton, where Gowling WLG's roots in the business community run deep.

As a partner in Hamilton's international economic development strategy, Gowling WLG supports the City's direct foreign investment efforts not only from a legal perspective, but also in helping to connect businesses to services, resources and support in Hamilton and around the world.

The firm has forged partnerships with several public institutions – McMaster Innovation Park, McMaster University, Hamilton Economic Development and Mohawk College, to name a few – based on a shared strategic mandate to foster economic activity, secure foreign direct investment, commercialize research and solve technical problems through experiential learning.

Gowling WLG plans to further cement its status in the city with the construction of a new office building at McMaster Innovation Park, where the firm will continue to play a growing role in the region's research, technology and manufacturing sectors by delivering legal services to those who are driving innovation in Hamilton and beyond.
