Bloomberg in its yearend M&A legal advisory league tables[1] placed Gowling WLG among a group of leading law firms for global, Canada and UK M&A deals in 2020.

Gowling WLG was credited with a total of 154 mid-market M&A[2] deals worldwide, ranking in the top 20 firms globally for most mid-market transactions.

Bloomberg ranked the firm #2 for Canada M&A with 112 deals (one of only two firms that advised on more than 100 Canadian transactions). Bloomberg also ranked the firm #11 for UK M&A. The mid-market M&A rankings for both Canada and the UK were equally impressive.

Karen Hennessey, head of the firm's M&A team in Canada, added: "In 2019 we advised on a record number of M&A deals, ranking first in Canada and among the top mid-market M&A firms globally. Despite the wrenching economic and social challenges of the pandemic, our clients were very resilient in 2020 and our group had a remarkably productive year."

Quarter after quarter, in all economic environments, Gowling WLG continues to build on its reputation as an extraordinarily active M&A powerhouse. Combining legal knowledge and business acumen, members of the firm's M&A practice serve as trusted advisors to a range of domestic and international clients – both publicly traded and privately held – across all major industry sectors.
