Gowling WLG has been named one of the leading firms for energy transition by Inspiratia in its Q3 2024 Legal Adviser League Tables.

Our Energy Transition team is named among the Top 10 legal advisers by deal count for the first three quarters of 2024 – in both European and Global markets. Gowling WLG currently ranks 7th for European deal count having closed 18 deals in the region, and 8th for Global deal count having completed 23 international client instructions this year. The rankings builds on previous strong results, including being named by Inspiratia as the top UK hydrogen project adviser for the period of 2020-2023.

The team has been advising on transactions across a range of energy transition technologies in 2024. This includes a trio of power purchase agreements (PPA) for client Statkraft in Q3, comprising a fixed-price PPA with Boralex for the 106MW transmission-connected Limekiln Wind Farm, an innovative seven-year route-to-market PPA with Luminous Energy, and a ten-year PPA and optimisation agreement with international investor FP Lux Group.

Inspiratia's adviser rankings assess the performance of lenders, as well as legal and financial advisers within the global infrastructure and renewables space. Using data compiled by the sector thought leader, covering deals reaching financial close during any given quarter, the league tables are highly regarded and produced to rank active market stakeholders and advisers.

Gowling WLG's multi-disciplinary Energy Transition team has a first-class reputation with regard to renewable and clean energy and operates seamlessly around the globe. Positioned at the forefront of the renewables sector, the team has been advising on a number of renewable related projects for the past few years and demonstrating its expertise in this area.
