Gowlings London corporate team integrates with WLG ahead of Gowling WLG launch

24 September 2015

Ahead of the launch of Gowling WLG in January 2016, Gowlings is pleased to announce that its nine-lawyer corporate team in London has moved over to Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co's (WLG) full-service London office, located at 4 More London (4ML).

The team's move will allow Gowlings and WLG to serve its clients in a more efficient and streamlined manner as one fully integrated team. It will also give WLG a boost in its corporate capabilities in advance of the launch of Gowling WLG.

Led by Charles Bond, the team includes Andrew Wright, Nick Iliff, Sefton Collett, Dominic Prentis, David Brennan, Susan Johnston, Victoria Yao and Michael Taylor. Effective Sept. 21, these lawyers are now based in WLG's 4ML office, with the exception of Iliff, who is practising out of WLG's Birmingham office.

"With a focus on corporate, banking and equity capital markets, our team brings considerable strength in the mining and oil & gas sectors," said Scott Jolliffe, Gowlings Chair and CEO. "Their move to WLG will help put Gowling WLG on track to rank No. 1 for total number of AIM-listed clients next year."

But just as important is the key role the team will play in the integration of Gowlings and WLG as a unified legal practice.

"The team will be essential to forging close relationships and promoting a spirit of collaboration between our two firms," said Jolliffe. "Their integration speaks to our commitment to building a strong foundation for Gowling WLG's success."

Gowlings and WLG recently announced that they are joining forces to create a new international legal practice called Gowling WLG. Launching in January 2016, Gowling WLG will be home to more than 1,500 legal professionals in 18 cities across Canada, the U.K., Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and will be the first international legal combination to be co-led by a Canadian firm.
