Gowling WLG pensions team appointed to advise trustees of Weetabix pension schemes

27 July 2016

Gowling WLG's pensions team has been appointed to advise the Trustees of both the Weetabix Group Pension Scheme and Weetabix Executive Pension Scheme.

Weetabix is the second largest branded manufacturer of cereals and cereal bars in the UK and, with pension scheme assets worth over £500m, the trustees of the two schemes will be a very significant client for the Gowling WLG pensions team.

Partner Richard Black, who led the opportunity, said: "The Trustees were looking for a team with a strong track record of providing clear and commercially-focused advice, which is what made us a good fit. This appointment builds on our relationship with Weetabix following our appointment earlier this year to advise on its global intellectual property portfolio."

Richard will advise the Weetabix trustees alongside Principal Associate, Suzannah White and Senior Associate, Eleanor Lamb.

Ian Forrest of the Trustee Corporation Limited said: "Having seen Gowling WLG's tailored, efficient approach, I have no doubt that they will offer pragmatic and direct advice in relation to Weetabix's market leading pension schemes. The Trustees look forward to working with them."

Gowling WLG's Pensions and Benefits team advises on the full spectrum of pensions and benefits issues, with clients including pension scheme trustees, independent trustees, employers' HRDs and FDs, insurers, benefit consultants and statutory bodies.
