Gowling WLG supports United States Nuclear Infrastructure Council Trade Mission to Canada with B2B reception

01 September 2017

Earlier this week, Gowling WLG hosted a special B2B reception in its Toronto office as part of the United States Nuclear Infrastructure Council (USNIC) industry trade mission to Canada. The event afforded an opportunity for USNIC delegates and Canadian industry leaders to meet, network and identify opportunities to enhance dialogue between the two countries on common-ground nuclear energy issues. The trade mission was organized in collaboration with the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries (OCNI).

Paul Murphy, a managing director within Gowling WLG's Energy Group, served as master of ceremonies for the reception, which featured a number of speakers, including Peter Lukasiewicz, CEO, Gowling WLG; Ron Oberth, President & CEO of OCNI; David Blee, executive director of the USNIC; Eric Crowley, Commercial Consul (and Acting Consul General) at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto; and Glenn Thibeault, Ontario's Minister of Energy.

"We were privileged to host members of the Canadian and U.S. nuclear industries and representatives from the Canadian and U.S. governments," said Murphy. "It's an exciting time for the nuclear industry in Canada, and the goals of the U.S. Nuclear Infrastructure Council's trade mission to Canada - and the Organization of Canadian Nuclear Industries' support for the mission - are perfectly aligned with Gowling WLG's commitment to, and multi-disciplinary experience in, the nuclear sector."

The experienced legal professionals in Gowling WLG's Nuclear Energy Group deliver hands-on legal and strategic guidance in all aspects of the nuclear industry, including project development, contracting, financing, regulatory affairs, dispute resolution, risk management, waste management, decommissioning, and intellectual property matters.
