Gowling WLG is pleased to welcome highly respected partner, Ben Stansfield, to its successful planning team.

Ben brings with him 15 years of experience in planning and environmental law and has previously advised on a wide range of complex issues such as the development and consenting of renewable energy projects and other infrastructure; environmental permitting and licensing; and international environmental law. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Ben was the Head of the Environment and Planning Group at Stephenson Harwood, and before that a senior associate at Clifford Chance. Well-known for his excellent client handling skills, Ben is widely respected in the industry and was named as a leading individual in both the Planning and Environment sectors by Legal500 and Chambers & Partners in 2018.

Ben is also a former Vice Chair of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association and is chairing the organising committee for UKELA's annual conference in 2019.

Vicky Fowler, head of planning at Gowling WLG, said: "Widely regarded as a leader in his field, Ben has an impressive track record in the planning industry for his broad practice and client service. We're really pleased to have him on board and enhance our ever-growing client offering".

On his appointment to the firm, Ben said "It is fantastic to be joining such an agile, forward-thinking international firm at what is a very interesting time for our clients, and a time when public focus on climate change and sustainability has never been so great. I look forward to working closely with my new colleagues and being part of Gowling WLG."
