Gowling WLG's Business Law group is expanding in Montréal

12 December 2019

Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that Marc Tremblay and Stefan Nasswetter have recently joined its Business Law Group as a partner and associate, respectively, based in the firm's Montreal office.

Tremblay and Nasswetter both come from a large Québec law firm where they worked closely on a number of complex corporate transactions.

Marc Tremblay

A professional engineer and lawyer, Tremblay has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, as well as the financing of private corporations — with an emphasis on the tech and telecommunications sectors.

Tremblay complements his M&A experience with in-depth knowledge of transactions specific to the IT and manufacturing sectors, including with respect to technology development, licensing, systems integration, technology transfers, strategic alliances, joint ventures and service outsourcing agreements.

A nationally recognized expert in corporate transactional law, technology law and IT law, Tremblay has represented several major Canadian companies in multi-billion-dollar transactions. He is routinely distinguished as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in Canada and Lexpert magazines.

Prior to beginning his legal career, Tremblay worked as a professional engineer for both an engineering consulting firm and one of the largest mining companies in the world, as well as in major national firms in Canada.

Stefan Nasswetter

Nasswetter's practice focuses primarily on joint ventures, strategic alliances, M&A and financing.

Nasswetter is skilled in negotiating various agreements pertaining to the development, implementation and transfer of technology, as well as agreements required for strategic alliances, joint ventures, service outsourcing, software as a service (SaaS) and web hosting.

He became a member of the Québec Bar in 2013, and he obtained his law degree from the University of Québec in Montréal. He also completed a master's degree in business law at Université de Montréal and earned a degree in commerce and business administration from Concordia University (John Molson School of Business).

"We are delighted to welcome Marc and Stefan to our team in Montreal," said Pierre Pilote, Gowling WLG's Montreal office managing partner. "They both bring extensive skill and experience to their roles and will help us provide even greater value to our clients at home and abroad."
