A team of corporate and banking experts from international law firm, Gowling WLG, has advised Pioneer Point Partners and Davidson Kempner on their combined investment into Echelon Holdings Limited, a company developing data centres and energy centres in Ireland. The investment is part of a €1 billion investment programme which includes two sites in Ireland totalling 184MW in capacity, with additional pipeline capacity both in Ireland and across Europe.

Gowling WLG has previously worked with Pioneer in relation to various investments including Primrose Solar, a UK developer of more than 250 MW of solar assets and in relation to its investment in Danish biogas producer, Nature Energy (NGF) which creates green energy from farm and food waste.

Commenting on the combined team's role, Gareth Baker said:

"It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the Pioneer team again. The transaction proceeded during the height of the COVID-19 lockdown and it was hugely uplifting to see all of the parties working collaboratively towards a common outcome in challenging circumstances."

The combined team from Gowling WLG comprised partners, Gareth Baker and Chris Brierley, associates, Billy Fraser and Fabiano Iesini and trainee, Ben Parker. The firm worked with leading Irish firm Mason Hayes & Curran on the transaction.
