Gowling WLG is pleased to announce Andrew Bratt as leader of the firm’s Employment, Labour and Equalities (ELE) Group in Canada. He assumes the role from outgoing leader Bettina Burgess.
“It is an honour to take up the mantle and lead the group at this particularly critical juncture. The challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and their economic consequences are serious and complex – but so is the opportunity for employers ahead,” said Bratt. “I look forward to working with my talented colleagues in helping our clients navigate these uncharted waters with the alacrity, creativity and steadfast advocacy for which Gowling WLG is known.”
The past Toronto office leader of the firm’s ELE Group, Bratt focuses his practice on all aspects of employment law, including employment-related litigation, human rights proceedings, employment standards claims, workers' compensation proceedings and employment issues surrounding corporate transactions. He speaks and writes frequently on a broad range of employment law topics and regularly guest lectures at the law faculties at Queen's University, the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto.
“As the outgoing leader, I am delighted that Andrew will be the person to take over the helm, particularly as our clients continue to endure the myriad challenges caused by the pandemic,” said Burgess. “Andrew brings to our team and to our clients years of substantive expertise, experience and understanding of our clients’ businesses. He has been instrumental in expertly assisting our practice group and our clients through the rapidly changing issues of 2020, and I know that he will continue to do so through his term as practice group leader.”
