Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that Mark Platteel has joined the firm as a partner in its Real Estate and Financial Services Department and Infrastructure and Construction Group in Toronto.

Platteel, a leader in the Canadian public-private partnerships (P3s) sector, has extensive experience advising clients across the full lifecycle of development projects, with particular emphasis on complex financing transactions, and the negotiation and drafting of large-scale construction contracts. He joins Gowling WLG from ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc., where he served as general counsel.

Platteel has worked closely with a range of public and private sector participants – including procurement agencies, developers, contractors, financial institutions, project entities and advisors – in bringing landmark infrastructure projects to fruition across the country and throughout North America.

"As we continue to grow our P3/infrastructure practice, Mark is the perfect addition to our group. He has a proven track record of helping infrastructure firms successfully pitch and win large-scale projects, work with consortium parties, and then manage and overcome the various challenges they face," said Ted Betts, Toronto partner and Head of Gowling WLG's Infrastructure and Construction Group. "His in-depth understanding of the legal, business and technical intricacies of the infrastructure sector, along with his ability to provide innovative solutions, will make him a strong resource for our clients and a vital member of our team."
