Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that trademark lawyer and agent Paula Clancy has rejoined its global Intellectual Property Group as a partner.
Based in Ottawa, Paula practised at Gowling WLG's predecessor firm between 1994 and 2008, after which she founded and operated a successful boutique intellectual property firm. She is Certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in IP (Trademarks), and has extensive experience practising both corporate/commercial law and trademark law across an array of industry sectors.
"Paula is admired by clients and colleagues alike for her ability to seamlessly align her clients' IP strategies with their underlying business objectives," said Wayne Warren, managing partner of Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. "She promises to be an exceptional resource for our trademark clients, and we're delighted she has decided to continue to grow her practice at our firm."
Paula is highly active in the global IP community. She was recently nominated to serve as a director of the International Trademark Association (INTA) for the 2022-2024 term. She also currently serves as director and treasurer of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), Canada's national delegate for the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), and director of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property AIPPI (Canada).
