Gowling WLG mourns the loss of Montreal office general manager Philip Tousignant

20 April 2022

Gowling WLG is saddened to announce that Philip Tousignant, general manager of the firm's Montreal office, passed away suddenly on April 10, 2022.

Philip joined the firm as a general manager in 2020, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in financial management in operational and corporate contexts. He had previously served as vice president, finance and administration, of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, as well as vice president and chief financial officer of Montreal's Olympic Park.

In his role within the firm, Philip oversaw all non-legal services at the Montreal office, including human resources, office marketing, facilities, finance and systems. His kindness, professionalism, dedication and leadership style quickly garnered him support and appreciation among fellow staff members of Gowling WLG.

Philip was a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (Québec CPA Order), and for a number of years, served as treasurer and sat on the board of directors for the Fondation de l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont, a charitable organization that was near and dear to his heart.

Gowling WLG extends its deepest sympathies to Philip's wife Julie and his sons Laurent and Émile.

Philip will be dearly missed, and will always be remembered as a genuine colleague and friend who was highly skilled and truly devoted to his team.
