Gowling WLG is delighted to welcome Antoine Guilmain to the firm as counsel and co-leader of the Cyber Security & Data Protection Group in Canada. He will be based in the firm's Montreal office.
Antoine joins Gowling WLG from Meta (formerly known as Facebook) where he held various positions in different countries, including associate general counsel and head of privacy legal for Canada. Harnessing sophisticated experience in Canada, the United States and throughout Europe, he advises on all data-related issues - particularly the protection of personal information, privacy by design and new product development, cyber security, anti-spam legislation, consumer protection, freedom of information legislation, and risk management and compliance.

Antoine holds doctorate degrees in Information Technology Law from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and the University of Montreal. A sought-after speaker in his field, he is a lecturer at several universities and has authored numerous publications over the course of his career, including his most recent book The Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector in Quebec: Looking Back and Thinking Forward.
