Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that Marc Richard has been appointed the new leader of the firm's Life Sciences Group in Canada. He succeeds John Norman, who has been instrumental in shaping the growth and success of the practice.

An intellectual property litigator based out of the firm's Ottawa office, Marc works closely with national and international pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biologic and technology companies on a variety of complex and high-profile matters, including with respect to patent infringement, proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, judicial review proceedings and trademark, copyright and domain name disputes. He also advises on regulatory and administrative matters regarding pharmaceuticals as well as patent listings on the Patent Register.

In addition to his legal acumen, Marc has a strong academic background in biochemistry and hands-on experience working in molecular biology and virology laboratories.

"Marc's distinguished two-decade career at Gowling WLG, along with his industry experience and scientific background, uniquely position him for this leadership role," said John Norman.
