Ali Faridkhou

Ali Faridkhou is a patent agent trainee in Gowling WLG's Montréal office, where he assists the intellectual property (IP) team.

Ali focuses his practice on providing innovative organizations in Canada and abroad with IP services tailored to their business and strategic objectives. This includes ongoing patent prosecution work, as well as IP due diligence, IP audits and IP licensing deals. As part of Ali's advisory work, he assists his clients in understanding the evolving IP landscape, helping them anticipate potential risks and opportunities that lie ahead.

Catering to a broad clientele, Ali routinely provides IP services to startups, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies across different sectors, including biotech, pharma, cannabis, advanced materials, AI and automotive.

Upon finishing his studies in a multidisciplinary team and obtaining a PhD in Chemical Engineering, he worked for a tier-one medical device company in Canada where he realized how IP could be strategically leveraged to promote growth and increase revenue.

Before his IP practice, Ali worked as a SR&ED consultant (Scientific Research & Experimental Development – an R&D incentive program administered by the Canada Revenue Agency – where he advised his clients on how to maximize their R&D tax credits.
