Arnim Powietzka is a highly recognised employment specialist with an experience of more than 18 years. His focus is on employment/HR aspects of M&A transactions, executive compensations schemes and pensions. He is also an expert in employee data protection issues. With his extensive experience in complex Labour Court proceedings, he provides accurate legal and tactical advice. Among his clients are multinational enterprises as well as medium-sized companies who rely on his legal expertise and strategy.

Arnim publishes regularly in leading publications and legal commentaries. He is a highly valued speaker in conferences and seminars, e.g. in regard to the training of certified employment lawyers. He is also a lecturer at the University of Heidelberg.

Experience

• Restructuring of the Sales Division of a multi-national manufacturer of bakery products, including agreements with works council on social plan ("Sozialplan") and balance of interest ("Interessenausgleich"), also represented client in subsequent dismissal protection complaints
• Successfully represented an automotive supplier facing numerous bonus claims raised by various employees based on company's target bonus scheme
• Internal investigations on a bribery case in the energy sector, represented client in dismissal protection procedures against several employees (including a works council member) and enforced claims for damages
• Successfully defended an automotive supplier and a newly hired senior executive against an action for injunction filed by former employer based on non-compete covenant
• Advised a non-profit organisation in the medical sector in regard of social security contributions charged for several doctors working as freelancers; administrative decisions charging additional contributions were set aside after social court proceedings
