Christiane McGovern is an associate in the Ottawa office of Gowling WLG, practising in the Corporate Commercial Group, focusing primarily in the areas of Commercial Law and Telecommunications Law.
Christiane summered and articled with Gowling WLG in the firm’s Business Group where she gained experience in commercial law, regulatory law, corporate law and telecommunications law.
Christiane completed her JD program at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, and in her third year participated in an exchange to the University of Hong Kong where she focused on international financial markets and technology law.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Christiane worked at Hydro Ottawa in their legal department and, before law school, as an environmental review and approval officer at Infrastructure Canada. During her time at Infrastructure Canada she worked closely with various stakeholders to ensure infrastructure projects complied with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and other legislation.
Christiane is an active volunteer within the law community. During her time at Queen’s she was a member of Pro Bono Students Canada and was vice president of the Queen’s University International Law Society.
Christiane is currently a member of the City of Ottawa’s Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee.
Christiane is fluent in English and French and practises in both languages.
