Bio
Courtney specialises in construction and engineering transactional work and supports clients in the infrastructure (including rail), residential, office, warehouse, and retail and leisure sectors.
She acts for public bodies, institutional investors, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, landlords, and tenants, where new assets or works to existing assets are being procured.
Having experience of both sides of the 'construction chain' allows her to strike a balance in order to get the deal done, whilst reflecting her clients' aims and the context of the particular transaction.
Courtney is experienced in advising on, drafting and negotiating construction documents (including JCT and NEC building contracts, framework agreements, consultant appointments, third party reliance, novation agreements and security documents) and ancillary documents (including reporting on the risks and the passing down of obligations within Asset Protection Agreements).
She advises on risk allocation between the various parties and her time spent working in-house has enabled her to see things from a 'client's eye' perspective.
She also undertakes due diligence on corporate and real estate transactions, advising on documents that have already been entered into.
