Danica Steadman

Danica Steadman is the Director of Associate and Student Programs in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She is responsible for the recruitment and management of summer and articling students in the office, which hires approximately 40 students annually.
Diversity, and even more critically, inclusion, are important to Danica and the firm. She believes in valuing everyone's differences and understanding how they impact one's career path, educational background and personal experiences.
She is currently a member of the Ottawa Anti-Racism Action Committee (ARAC), which is aimed at combating anti-Indigenous and anti-Black racism and promoting equality through project-based advocacy. Previously, Danica served as chair of the Ottawa branch of Gowling WLG's Diversity & Inclusion Council, which supports the national Diversity & Inclusion Council's mandate and initiatives.
At the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) — an association of more than 2,500 legal professionals who advise law students, lawyers, law offices, and law schools in North America and beyond – she served as working group chair of the Canadian section, as well as co-chair of the Canadian diversity working group.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Danica was program chair of the paralegal and law enforcement foundations programs at a college in Ottawa. She was also an associate at a law firm, and gained experience in a broad range of legal areas, including: civil litigation, criminal law, employment law, estates law, family law, insurance law, personal injury law, small claims law and real estate law.
Danica completed her LLM at the University of Ottawa and is fluent in French and English.
