Dan O'Donnell

Dan is an Associate in Gowling WLG's Infrastructure and Project Finance Team, focusing on financings, refinancings, acquisitions and disposals in the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. Dan regularly advises lenders, funds, sponsors and developers across a range of sectors and technologies. Dan's recent work includes battery storage projects, solar PV projects, anaerobic digestion plants, and social infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining the firm he read Law at Newcastle University, achieving an upper second-class honours.


  • Advising a syndicate of investment banks on the £235 million construction financing of two greenfield battery storage projects being developed by Zenobe in Scotland.
  • Advising battery storage developer Pacific Green on a range of projects, including: the construction financing and subsequent sale of its 99.98MW battery storage project at Richborough Energy Park, and on the acquisition, £120 million senior construction financing and subsequent disposal of its 249MW battery storage project at Sheaf Energy Park.
  • Advising a listed debt fund as Lender on a portfolio construction financing transaction for lithium battery storage projects in the UK, with an initial total commitment of £37 million and a £100 million accordion facility.
  • Advising a confidential investor on the acquisition of a portfolio of AD plants in the UK.
  • Advising FI1 Limited on the sale of its stake in the project companies that will construct and operate the NeuConnect Interconnector Project between Great Britain and Germany.
  • Advising Alfanar Global Development on the project development and financing of five residential communities worth SAR 21 billion procured by the NEOM company in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising the Ministry of Defence on its 11-year £695 million investment to provide in-service support for the RAF's fleet of Hawk T2 training aircraft and the Hawk T1 jets flown by The Red Arrows.
