Bio
David Isilebo is an articling student in Gowling WLG's Calgary office.
David obtained his JD from the University of Calgary in 2022. During his time in law school, David was an active participant in various extracurricular activities. He volunteered as a student caseworker with Student Legal Assistance, helping bring access to justice to low-income individuals in criminal, family, and traffic matters.
David was also a prominent member of the UCalgary Black Law Students Association, acting as an executive in 1L and 2L and ultimately serving as co-president in his 3L. During his time at UCBLSA, David helped implement the Black Students Admissions Process for the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, which has seen the number of Black law students increase substantially.
In 2L, David worked as a summer student for Alberta Crown Prosecutions Service in Calgary. There, in addition to assisting senior Crown staff, he was afforded the opportunity to run traffic court trials as the lead chair.
Prior to law school, David worked as a research assistant for a multi-million-dollar archaeological research project based out of the University of Calgary. He obtained a BSc with a major in Environmental Science and a minor in Human Geography from the University of Alberta.
