Based in Gowling WLG’s Montréal office, Denis is a partner, patent agent and member of the Intellectual Property Law Group. His practice covers all aspects of patents, particularly strategic patent procurement in the fields of artificial intelligence, fintech, medical devices, software and telecommunications.
Denis helps clients develop and manage commercially useful patent portfolios in a range of technical fields, as well as advising clients on contentious matters and the commercialization of medical devices and computer-implemented inventions.
He has 20 years of IP experience across Canada, the United States, France and the United Kingdom. Notably, Denis spent a significant portion of his career practicing in the United Kingdom, where he was a partner in one of Europe's leading IP law firms.
Previously, Denis also practiced at a well-known technology company, where he was responsible for growing its European optical networking patent portfolio.
Before entering private practice, Denis was a patent examiner at both the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the U.K. Intellectual Property Office.
