Drew McArthur

Drew McArthur is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office and a member of the firm’s Employment, Labour, & Equalities Practice Group.

Drew advises clients on all aspects of the employment relationship, including termination and discipline-related issues, the duty to accommodate, health and safety, employment standards, privacy, accessibility, and human rights. He regularly assists employers with drafting and revising employment contracts, progressive workplace policies, and employee handbooks.

In addition, Drew represents employers in wrongful dismissal litigation, human rights complaints, and labour disputes. He has counseled various employers on post-termination rights against former employees with respect to solicitation of clients as well as issues regarding theft of both physical and electronic property. Drew understands that clients do not want to be embroiled in lengthy disputes. He is solution-focused.  When a dispute arises, he works efficiently to find a resolution.

Drew has appeared before a variety of administrative boards and tribunals, as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Divisional Court, and Ontario Small Claims Court.
