Emmanuelle Champagne

Emmanuelle Champagne is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. She has completed five of six years in the combined honours bachelor of commerce (BCom) and juris doctor (JD) degree in the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa.

While pursuing her legal studies, Emmanuelle worked as a legal intern at Sport Resolutions, a sports dispute resolution service based in the United Kingdom. She also has experience as a teaching assistant for the first-year Property Law course at the University of Ottawa, and as a research assistant, where she supported two professors in the research and drafting of two legal textbooks in Tort Law and Comparative Law. While at the Telfer School of Management, Emmanuelle worked as a program officer in the Controlled Substances and Cannabis Branch of Health Canada. She also has volunteered as a teacher in the Philippines.

In 2022, Emmanuelle competed in the Michel Bastarache Moot Court Competition on language rights and finished in first place for Best Advocate, Best Team and Best Factum. Emmanuelle was also the recipient of the Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (Ottawa) Common Law Entrance Scholarship (2019), the Honourable Vincent Drouin Prize in Common Law (2020), the Hugh G. Doyle Memorial Prize (2021) and the Vincent Dagenais Gour Gibson Prize (2021).

Emmanuelle is fluent in both French and English. In her spare time, Emmanuelle loves riding her Peloton bike, practising yoga and hiking with her friends and family. As an avid traveller, she enjoys visiting new cities, checking adventures off her bucket list and meeting new people.
