Gabrielle Matheson

Gabrielle Matheson is a summer law student in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office.

Gabrielle currently attends the Peter A. Allard School of Law (UBC), where she is a JD student fellow for the Centre for Law and the Environment. While at law school, Gabrielle has conducted historical research on the reception of English law in British Columbia.

She has also volunteered with the Law Students Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), and has held multiple positions with the UBC Law Students’ Society as a representative for Allard students’ interests. Gabrielle enjoyed participating in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition, where she and her team had an opportunity to compete nationally and globally in the event's first virtual moot.

Prior to law school, Gabrielle received a BA in Political Science from Queen’s University. While completing her undergraduate degree, she spent an exchange term studying in France at Sciences Po - Menton. Gabrielle also received a MA in Political Science from the University of British Columbia. Her research focused on global environmental politics and contemporary responses to climate change.

Gabrielle’s legal interests are focused on environmental, constitutional and administrative law. She looks forward to clerking at the British Columbia Court of Appeal after completing her final year of law school.
