Halima Ansari

Halima is an associate (qualified in Australia) with experience advising in front-end and back-end major projects, construction and environmental matters. Halima has acted for a range of clients including government departments and bodies, developers, contractors and consultants and currently focuses on front-end transport, energy and social infrastructure projects.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Halima worked as a projects lawyer at international law firm DLA Piper within their Sydney office and a paralegal within the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Halima has over two years of experience working in engineering-related roles at Transport for NSW and Arcadis. Halima's diverse range of engineering and legal experience, combined with a keen interest in environment and sustainability affords her a sound understanding of the commercial, technical and ESG aspects of major infrastructure projects.

Experience

  • Advised Hyundai Rotem Company on its successful tender (as Rollingstock Subcontractor, in a joint venture with Downer) and during the delivery phase for the Queensland Government's AUD4.6 billion Queensland Train Manufacturing Program for the design and local manufacture of 65 new six-car trains for deployment on the South-East Queensland rail network.
  • Advised Hyundai Movex Co., Ltd on its design, supply and install contract and subcontracts for the platform screen doors and mechanical gap filler package for the upgrade of the existing T3 Bankstown line, as part of the New South Wales Government's AUD20 billion Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.
  • Advised Grupo Cobra (in its capacity as sponsor, joint D&C Contractor with Acciona, and M&L Contractor in the ACE Consortium) following its successful tender for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of a renewable energy network for the NSW Government's AUD3.2 billion Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ) PPP project, the first project of its kind to commence in New South Wales.
  • Advised Downer on its tender (as D&C Contractor and part of the Plenary-led consortium, with Essential Energy), for the design and construction of the network infrastructure, including energy hubs and high-capacity transmission lines, for the CWO REZ PPP project.
  • Advised Kalpataru Power Transmission Limited on its successful tender, as Delivery Contractor JV member (with Acciona and Genus), for the design and construction of 356 kilometres of new 500KV transmission lines and substations for Transgrid's AUD3 billion HumeLink – East West project.
  • Advised National Intermodal Corporation Limited on aspects of the relocation of a key piece of road infrastructure (Moorebank Avenue) on an operational site at Moorebank Intermodal Terminal.
  • Advised a NSW State Government entity on the terms of an long term outsourcing agreement for the supply of property management and maintenance services.
  • Advised Ramsay Healthcare (as principal) on the development and upgrade of its private hospital and healthcare facilities.
  • Advised a major global financial institution in preparing a global climate change litigation strategy across five key jurisdictions (UK, EU, US, Australia and Canada).
  • Advised the Department of Planning and Environment (in-house) for matters of various classes in the Land and Environment Court and in the NSW Supreme Court including environmental planning and protection appeals and civil enforcement.
