
Bio
Helen Yang is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, focusing her work with the Intellectual Property Group.
Helen has completed her first year of the JD program at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. During her studies, she serves as president of Legal Education Outreach, assistant editor for the UBC Law Review, and associate editor for the Canadian Journal of Family Law.
Prior to entering law school, Helen conducted graduate research in oncology at the University of Toronto, leading clinical studies on prostate cancer treatment outcomes and caregiver support. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Pathobiology from the University of Toronto.
Outside of academics, Helen has served as a medical first responder, worked in non-profit consulting and advised science outreach programs.
In her spare time, Helen enjoys playing volleyball and tennis, editing podcasts and managing her fantasy basketball league.
