Jamie Desmond

Jamie is an associate in the Gowling WLG projects and infrastructure team with a keen focus on renewable assets. Prior to joining GWLG, Jamie qualified as an energy solicitor in a leading Irish law firm.

In terms of project development, Jamie has advised on most renewable asset project contracts (wind, solar, battery storage, AD). He has increasing experience advising developers and lenders on battery energy storage projects in the UK, including on the battery supply, transformer supply, balance of plant, O&M and asset management contracts.

He also has project finance experience having advised borrowers and lenders on the financing and security aspects for renewable projects in Ireland and the UK.

Experience

  • Advised Pacific Green Technologies on the project development, financing and sale of the Sheaf Energy Park (249MW).
  • Advised the lenders to Zenobē on the financing of its development of two BESS projects in Scotland (totalling 400 MW).
  • Advised Pacific Green Technologies on its sale of the Richborough Energy Park battery development (99 MW).
  • Advised a leading developer of a major infrastructure project to design, build, finance, operate, insure and maintain (DBFOM) 5 construction villages in the GCC.
  • Advised the lenders to the Greenlink Interconnector (500 MW) between Ireland and Wales (the first privately developed interconnector in Ireland).
  • Advised the lenders to Phase 2 of the Oweninny Wind Farm (172 MW) in County Mayo, Ireland.
  • Advised a leading Irish sponsor on the development of the Ardderroo wind farm (91.2 MW) in County Galway, Ireland.
  • Advised the seller of a majority stake in a portfolio of 11 Irish operational onshore wind farms (453MW) (which benefited from a mix of state support schemes and a corporate PPA).
  • Advised the buyer of the Cordal Wind Farm (89.6MW) in County Kerry, Ireland.
  • Advised the buyer of a leading electrical sub-contractor in Ireland.
