Jane Morrott

Jane advises on a wide range of pensions matters. She spent a number of years in a senior in-house advisory role at the Pension Protection Fund with a particular focus on pensions, governance and regulatory matters, in particular advising on restructuring and insolvency transactions. Jane has particular knowledge of PPF multi-employer issues.

She has significant experience of managing complex pension issues in light of cross-disciplinary legal and regulatory issues to deliver pragmatic client-focused solutions, whilst balancing the interests of different stakeholders.

Experience

  • Drafting deeds of amendment to implement benefit design changes including closure to accrual and introducing new member options.
  • Advising in relation to DC discharge issues, in particular using transfer without consent powers and impact of such exercises on DC Code compliance.
  • Advising on a full benefit specification review as part of a pensioner buy-in.
  • Advising project boards on implementation of significant operational projects in delivering new services to pension scheme members and implementing significant legal changes to member benefits.
  • Supporting Trustees in assessing the impact of proposed scheme de-sectionalisation, options to retain sectionalisation and advising on legal and practical steps following de-sectionalisation.
  • Advising the purchaser in relation to share and asset purchase of part of a corporate group with three historic defined benefit schemes and transferring two of those schemes through flexible apportionment arrangements.
  • Handling claims from DC and DB schemes in relation to the Fraud Compensation Fund, particularly in relation to pensions liberation issues
