Jessica Chen

Jessica Chen is an associate in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, practising in the firm's Real Estate and Financial Services Group. Jessica's practice focuses on real property disputes. She has experience advising clients on a variety of topics including municipal issues, land use planning, market rent disputes on commercial leases, property tax appeals, expropriations, and administrative law issues.

Jessica has represented all sides of the development industry including developers, municipalities, municipal councillors, municipal service boards, and community organizations. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as various administrative tribunals including the Ontario Land Tribunal, Assessment Review Board, and Landlord and Tenant Board.

Jessica completed her Canadian and American JD at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and the University of Detroit Mercy Law. During her legal studies, as part of the Criminal Law Clinic at Detroit Mercy Law, she successfully advocated for misdemeanor defendants in District Court.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Jessica interned for the Speaker of the Senate and worked for two Members of Parliament. Jessica regularly volunteers with Pro Bono Ontario's Free Legal Advice Hotline.
