Joel Hacker

Joel Hacker is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.

Joel graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law with his J.D. degree. While in law school, Joel completed courses in several different areas of law. He particularly enjoyed courses in dispute resolution, family law, business law, and entertainment law. Joel also took part in leadership positions, namely his role as third-year class representative on the University of Saskatchewan Law Students’ Association (LSA). His role involved organizing class graduation events, attending and participating in LSA meetings, and representing the collective interests of the Class of 2023 at the student level.

During his time as a summer law student at Gowling WLG, Joel worked alongside the Business Law group. He participated in a variety of corporate, commercial, real estate, and tax law files, contributing significantly to legal research, due diligence, and document review. Joel also completed legal training programs and attended professional development sessions as part of Gowling WLG’s student experience. 

Prior to completing law school, Joel graduated from Carleton University with a B.A. in law/legal studies.
